Crysis Remastered Gameplay Reveal Trailer Dropping On July 1

Crytek says it will reveal the first gameplay trailer for Crysis Remastered – which launches on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC – on Wednesday, July 1.

Crytek will give fans a look at the upcoming Crysis Remastered this Wednesday when a new trailer for the game premieres on YouTube. When the trailer drops, it will mark the first gameplay for Crysis Remastered, which was revealed in April.

Before Crytek announced Crysis Remastered, fans had been asking for a Crysis remake and even speculating about its possible existence for a while. Crytek even fanned the flames of the rumors, tweeting out the cryptic message “receiving data,” which was met by excitement from fans, including the official Twitter accounts of Xbox and Corsair. Just days after that tease, Crytek officially unveiled Crysis Remastered, along with the surprising news that it will be available on the Nintendo Switch as well as PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

In the biggest news about Crysis Remastered yet, Crytek announced on the game's official Twitter account that it will debut the first gameplay trailer this Wednesday, July 1st. The trailer will go live at 12 pm ET. While it’s not clear exactly what the trailer will entail, or even how long it is, it will show how the famously gorgeous PC classic is being adapted to the current console generation. According to the trailer’s YouTube description, Crysis Remastered will be available for pre-order in the near future. An exact date for pre-orders or even a tentative release date could be on the table when the trailer debuts.

One piece of information that plenty of fans are likely excited to know is whether the game will also be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Crytek has previously spoken up about the potential of next-generation consoles, particularly their much hyped SSDs, so clearly the technology is on the minds of some at the studio. Crysis has always been known as a technological powerhouse, serving as a technical benchmark for years after its release and spawning a long-running “can it run Crysis?” meme. It’s no surprise then that the developer would be interested in exploring the impressive capabilities of next-gen SSDs.

It’s been a long time since the original Crysis launched and games have changed a lot since then. While Crysis Remastered is almost certainly going to capture the interest of fans of the original, the real test will be whether it can stand out to newcomers in the current landscape. Given Crytek’s track record, it’s a safe bet that Crysis Remastered will look beautiful, but players will have a chance to make up their own minds soon enough.
