Slow to Fast: All 9 Fast & Furious movies ranked from worst to best

9. Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

Universal Pictures

Tokyo Drift is the third fast and furious movie and some people would argue one of the better ones. So why is the worst one? The protagonist Sean Boswell is a highschooler from America who is forced to move to Japan because of his juvenile behavior. Forget the fact that he and his castmates don’t look like they’re from highschool, but what’s the first thing that he does when he is in Japan? Oh right, he breaks some more rules. I know the movies are about being cool and doing whatever you want, but it’s hard to be on Sean’s side.

Tokyo Drift is also set ahead of the other movies, with Han being in Japan after finishing his time with Don’s crew. Many of the future movies also screw this up because Han dies in this movie (no spoiler alert because it doesn’t matter). And they reveal in a later movie that Deckard Shaw actually killed Han, making Shaw a bad guy. But wait, they revealed in the latest movie that Han is actually alive. So after everything, Han’s death and Sean’s drive to avenge him seem nothing but empty and needless. It’s just another movie about racing, but in this one they’re drifting. If you know anything about Fast and Furious it was never about the cars, it was always about the people.
