Universal Studios Orlando Reopening Guidelines Reveal All The Changes Coming

Universal Studios Orlando is reopening, and has released guidelines reveal all the changes that are coming.

Universal Studios Orlando is reopening and has released guidelines that reveal all the changes that are coming. Today, Universal Parks & Resorts announced their plans to begin a phased reopening of its Universal Orlando Resort. The reopening will start on June 5th and will include a range of new and improved health, hygiene, and safety procedures that are based on guidelines provided by the CDC and other health officials. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis supported the effort, and Universal collaborated with Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings' Economic Recovery Task Force.

Universal Studios Orlando closed its doors on March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since closing, it had plans to reopen parks earlier, but it was pushed back due to the outbreak spreading. Universal had expected to open the park up by April 16th, but of course, this did not happen. Similarly, Disneyland and Disney World announced their closures on March 12th, as did Broadway and all major sports leagues. Since then, however, Universal CityWalk Orlando began reopening on May 14th with new health and safety procedures.

Universal Orlando Resort has listed all of the health and safety guidelines that they plan on implementing with park reopening. According to a press release by Universal, the procedures will consist of three primary areas: screening, spacing, and sanitation. These policies will apply to guests and employees alike: everyone will be required to wear a mask or face covering, and practice social distancing. Before admission into the park, guests and employees must also have their temperatures checked. Those with temperatures measuring at 100.4 or higher will not be allowed into the park.

In addition to masks and social distancing, Universal released these guidelines as well:

Regarding the hotels at the resort, plans to reopen are being finalized at the moment, and updates will be shared. Within the press release, it was also recommended that guests who are at higher risk from Coronavirus (age, underlying medical conditions) do not visit the parks.

All eyes will be on Universal Studios within the coming weeks. While measures seem to be in place, enforcement of these policies is going to be essential. Even with these measures, it is still hazardous to be in high population, densely packed settings like theme parks. Universal has emphasized that at the end of the day, guests should evaluate the risk and make their own decision before visiting the park.
